As a super busy wife and mom, it’s hard to find a few moments to myself in my schedule. Many of my days are focused on my time in the classroom as a professor, my work as a communication expert and coach, and also being focused on my family. I spend a good number of hours in my car during the week and I recently got the chance to switch things up a bit with a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer. I drove the car for a week and was fortunate to be able to take a few stolen moments just for me, behind the wheel.

The week the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer was dropped off to my home, we were in the throws of planning my daughter’s first birthday party. If you might recall, I reviewed another Mitsubishi right after she was born last year! I enjoyed driving the Mirage, but the Lancer has a special place in my heart, as I drove one for twelve years before getting a new car last fall.

The design of the 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer and feel of the drive is much sportier than I remember my 2002 model being. During the review week, I stayed out and about running errands to prepare for the party. The Lancer had plenty of space inside the cabin and the trunk to fit everything I needed. What I loved most about the sedan was the rear view camera, seat warmers (always my favorite!), and how smooth the drive was.

What I felt was lacking with the car was the technology aspect. There was SIRIUS XM radio and a pretty neat tech base on the dashboard, which was nice. One more than one occasion however, I found myself a little peeved that there wasn’t a USB cable connector to charge my cell phone. I think that should be standard on all cars now!

Nonetheless, the midst of my busy week, I decided to take the Lancer to one of my favorite parks in my area. I treated myself to an iced coffee and drove up this scenic hill to steal a few moments of peace and quiet for myself. It was glorious!

When life gets busy, it’s so important that we learn how to push the pause button and slow things down whenever we can. I needed that reminder and am so glad I was able to get some me time while enjoying the Lancer.

In the end, I made it through a crazy week and the birthday party was a success! Thanks to my friends at Mitsubishi and DriveShop for another fantastic driving experience.

Happy Birthday!
